Your new workplace

The Municipal Executive Office works with coordination and development of municipal operations at an overarching level.

Here, there are important functions within finance, HR, digitalization and IT, communication, security and preparedness, sustainable community development, as well as growth and business.

The Secretariat Department is part of the Municipal Executive Office and works with legal support, investigations, the political preparation process, general elections, and administrative support to the municipality's management. The department has ten employees, of which five are lawyers. We are now looking for our next employee for this function.

At the Secretariat Department, legal expertise is combined with social benefit – a mission where your competence makes a difference every day. The position involves working in a multifaceted and exciting environment. It requires the ability to quickly understand legal issues both broadly and in depth. The assignment is largely event-driven, and we work with many varying cases and issues simultaneously. This requires flexibility and independence.

Your contribution as a municipal lawyer

As a municipal lawyer, you will come into contact with several areas of law, including municipal law, administrative law, contract law, and public access and confidentiality. You will also work with legal issues within the IT and digitalization area.

Your area of responsibility mainly includes support to the Municipal Executive Office. You are also expected, together with other lawyers, to support the municipality as a whole.

In your role as a municipal lawyer, you will work on:

• Providing advice and support to administrations and committees on all areas of law occurring in a municipality.
• Independently conducting investigations of various kinds.
• Preparing decision-making materials for political decisions in committees, the Municipal Executive Board, and the Municipal Council.
• Developing knowledge materials for the management of the Municipal Executive Office.
• Drafting and reviewing contracts.
• Creating governing documents.
• Training elected officials and employees in legal matters.
• Monitoring legal security in administration.
• Keeping up with legal developments.
• Assisting in legal processes.
• Drafting opinions to other authorities.
• Making decisions by delegation.

Your qualifications and experience

We are looking for someone who:

• Has a law degree or other education that the employer assesses as equivalent.
• Has excellent knowledge of Swedish in both spoken and written form.
• Has good computer skills.

Desirable knowledge and experience:

• Current and applied experience of qualified legal work, preferably from a politically governed organization.

As a person, you are self-driven and responsible, and you advance your work in a structured and efficient manner. You have a service-oriented approach, are clear in your communication, and collaborate well with others. Furthermore, you are flexible and can adapt to changing circumstances, while handling complex legal issues with analytical sharpness and good problem-solving ability. With personal maturity, you act steadily and professionally even in pressured situations.
